  • Set up by the Global Cyber Alliance a global non profit organisation aimed at tackling cyber crime set up by the New York District Attorney, City of London Police and Centre for Internet Security.  They have offered some free online resources that offer SMEs very basic levels of protection. NB. although this is a good starting point you should still seek advice on more sophisticated protection. Free basic cyber crime protection advice 

  • Cyber Essentials is a government backed scheme designed to help protect organisations on a broad scale. There are different levels of certification dependent on your organisational need. FACT3 provide a bespoke Cyber Essentials service to help SMEs get certified.

    Testing your response  

  • Exercise in a Box is an online tool from the NCSC which helps organisations test and practise their response to a cyber attack. It is completely free and you don’t have to be an expert to use it. The service provides exercises, based around the main cyber threats, which your organisation can do in your own time, in a safe environment, as many times as you want. It includes everything you need for setting up, planning, delivery, and post-exercise activity, all in one place.

  • Adequately insuring against an attack is an essential part of your cyber strategy.  These two resources from The Association of British Insurers will provide you with a good starting point to start to get a better understanding of what your cyber insurance should cover.
